TREBIC Membership Meeting, February 16, 2016
We have had good meetings in December, January and February with The city to discuss myriad issues with permitting and inspections. They are responding by:
– moving forward and have posted a new inspector position to help address the workload.
– restructured some staff around to help staff get to inspections and re-inspections.
– adjusting the call in time to the previous business day versus the morning of the same day. This will help with prioritizing, scheduling, and communicating with builders.
– communicating earlier in the process if an inspection will not be addressed that day or giving a better time frame for arrival. To that end, they will request funding for a part time roster position to be tasked with returning messages and making contact about timing, rescheduling, etc.
– pursue budgeting for software replacement to resolve some issues
– plan to meet with us again to discuss the Habitat Blitz to be better prepared for next time, our messaging system, and any other topics.
